Sean Chitwood, PharmD, MBA currently serves on the Government Programs Clinical Quality team at Optum Rx. Here he plays a pivotal role consulting with Medicare health plan clients by providing tailored, data-driven strategy recommendations to drive perpetual improvement in quality measure performance.

Prior to joining Optum Rx Sean was the Director of Workers’ Compensation at a startup PBM. In this capacity, he spearheaded the establishment of the workers’ compensation line of business, further developing his strategic acumen.

Before that Sean was the Director of Clinical Services for a regional PBM where he engaged in all facets of the business, gaining a foundational knowledge which has served him in all subsequent capacities and positions.

Sean received his B.S. in Biochemistry at Arizona State University prior to earning both his PharmD and MBA degrees from Mercer University in Atlanta. Originally from California, his academic and professional pharmacy career has afforded him outstanding opportunities to work and learn across the United States (GA, FL, AZ, AK, PA) and abroad (Scotland) in various capacities. He currently resides in Arizona with his extraordinary wife and five children.
