Bryan Buechel, PharmD, MBA, is a pharmacy leader with more than 15 years of experience spanning health system and retail pharmacy practice, pharmacy benefit management, and managed care. In his role as Director of Pharmacy at Mayo Clinic and Alluma, a pharmacy benefit manager affiliated with Mayo Clinic, he oversees clinical operations and leads a multidisciplinary team of pharmacists, analysts, and clinical associates. Dr. Buechel leads formulary strategy and operations, clinical account management, utilization management, and clinical program development; supports health systems in optimizing the use of their in-house pharmacies to enhance employee health plan value; and provides consultation on pharmacy benefit design for self-insured health plans across the country.

Throughout his career, Dr. Buechel has focused on developing innovative, data-driven programs that improve efficiency, enhance patient access, and optimize clinical and financial outcomes. His expertise includes formulary and rebate management, pharmacy operations, benefit design, clinical account management, and technology-enabled process improvement. Prior to his current role, he served as Director of Pharmacy for Mayo Clinic Pharmacy Benefit Solutions and as Senior Pharmacy Manager at Mayo Clinic.

Dr. Buechel earned his Doctor of Pharmacy degree from the University of Wisconsin and a Master of Business Administration from the University of Nebraska. Outside of work, he enjoys spending time with his family, flying, spending time outdoors, and traveling.
