Statement of Need/Program Overview
Continuous glucose monitoring (CGM) has become an increasingly integral component of diabetes management, supported by a growing body of evidence demonstrating improvements in glycemic control, reductions in hypoglycemia, and enhanced patient engagement. This program will provide you with a comprehensive overview of the evolving role of CGM across the diabetes care continuum. The expert faculty will review current standards of care and guideline recommendations, highlighting how CGM supports therapy initiation and treatment optimization. The discussion will also explore the implications of emerging evidence, along with recent HEDIS and Stars updates, to inform payer strategies around coverage, utilization management, and population health approaches aimed at improving outcomes and quality performance at both the individual and population levels.
Educational Objectives
At the conclusion of this activity, participants should be able to demonstrate improved ability to:
- Describe current standards of care and guideline recommendations for CGM, including its role in therapy initiation and treatment optimization across diabetes care pathways
- Evaluate clinical, real-world, and economic evidence on CGM and its association with glycemic outcomes, quality measure attainment, healthcare utilization, and payer-relevant cost outcomes, including among individuals with non-insulin-treated type 2 diabetes
- Assess the implications of emerging evidence, HEDIS and Stars updates, and CGM-based individual- and population-level care approaches for managed care decision-making, including quality performance, coverage policy, utilization management, and population health strategies
