        | Dr.  John J. Mahmarian is Professor of Medicine at Weill Cornell Medical College and Director of the Nuclear Cardiology  and CT Laboratories at the Methodist DeBakey  Heart and Vascular Center of The Methodist Hospital in Houston, Texas.  Recognized both nationally and internationally as an authority in nuclear  cardiology, Dr. Mahmarian is a fellow of the  American College of Cardiology, the American Society of Nuclear Cardiology as  well as a fellow and Founding Member of the Society of Cardiovascular Computed  Tomography. He currently serves as Vice President of the American Society of Nuclear  Cardiology and in the recent past has served on the Certification Board of  Nuclear Cardiology. He is often called upon to grade abstracts submitted to  national meetings and to review articles written for peer-reviewed journals.  His research interests focus on how to better tailor therapy, reduce healthcare  costs, and improve patient outcome. He has   also written extensively on myocardial  perfusion imaging, calcium scoring, and cardiac CT angiography. He is  board-certified in cardiology, nuclear cardiology, cardiac CT angiography, and  internal medicine. |
