Who Should Attend? This activity is designed to meet the educational needs of pharmacists, physicians and other healthcare professionals attending the AMCP 25th Annual Meeting & Expo. Statement of Need/Program Overview Oncology is often characterized by small trials, phase 2 data, surrogate efficacy endpoints (i.e., depth of response, time to progression), and relatively little data regarding "hard" endpoints, such as overall survival (OS). The nature of cancer also creates unique implications for how comparative effectiveness research (CER) should be applied. Enhanced competency is needed regarding the structure and delivery of oncology benefit designs, including supportive care. This symposium will illustrate a systematic approach to evaluate, select, and implement specialty pharmacy benefit design and management services to improve access and outcomes to appropriate therapies for patients with cancers such as multiple myeloma.
