  WHO SHOULD ATTEND?

This activity is designed to meet the educational needs of managed care pharmacy directors, clinical pharmacists, quality directors, medical directors, members of AMCP, and other managed health care professionals attending AMCP Managed Care & Specialty Pharmacy Annual Meeting.

STATEMENT OF NEED / PROGRAM OVERVIEW

The treatment paradigm for multiple myeloma (MM) is complex and evolving in light of both the continual introduction of novel agents and regimens, and enhanced patient profiling information. The expanding therapeutic armamentarium presents managed care and specialty pharmacy professionals with the challenge of understanding therapeutic efficacy and tolerability nuances, determining appropriate treatment sequencing and combinations, and evaluating access, coverage, and reimbursement decisions. This specialty pharmacy satellite symposium is designed to provide managed care and specialty pharmacy professionals the means by which collaborative care efforts may be implemented and provider support may be generated in conjunction with initiatives such as clinical pathways and comprehensive patient management programs.

The Managed Care Review BoardTM format features multi-specialty, multi-professional managed care, and clinical specialist faculty who collaborate on the review of the clinical data, current guidelines, and economic data of a specific class of therapeutics. It uniquely provides the audience with a review of important, relevant therapeutic category information and features peer-to-peer exchange between a diverse group of managed care and clinical specialist faculty contributors. This interactive program is designed to engage the faculty and audience to develop solutions for managed care and specialty pharmacy professionals to implement within their own setting to improve outcomes for patients with MM. This approach supports managed care pharmacists by enhancing the results of their own health care organization's systematic literature reviews and analyses.

  EDUCATIONAL OBJECTIVES

At the conclusion of this activity, participants should be able to demonstrate improved ability to:
  • Evaluate recent clinical data affecting evidence-based treatment guidelines for MM
  • Demonstrate the value of clinical pathways initiatives as a means of reducing treatment variability and improving clinical and economic outcomes in the management of MM
  • Implement comprehensive care strategies involving effective communication methods
  • Integrate innovative oncology pharmacy benefit models with specialty pharmacy management services
  • Provide accurate and appropriate counsel as part of the managed care treatment team
